The origins of the present group date back to 1970 when Wilson-Holmes (Pty) Ltd was formed by John Wilson and Brian Holmes. A number of mergers followed resulting in the name being changed to Wilson Bayly Holmes (Pty) Limited in 1983 and finally to WBHO Construction in 1994.
Today the group is one of the largest construction companies in Southern Africa and is listed on the Johannesburg Securities Exchange. The driving force behind WBHO is a core of dedicated, hands-on management professionals whose experience spans decades of major construction projects in southern Africa, the Middle East and various Indian Ocean islands. WBHO’s offices are strategically located in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban and Port Elizabeth.
Construction activities, which cover the full spectrum, are divided into three main operating divisions, Building Construction, Civil Engineering and Roads and Earthworks. Our Australian subsidiary, Probuild Constructions, has its headquarters in Melbourne.

Founded in the east of France (Lorraine region) in 1704, the Wendel Group developed its business over more than 300 years in diverse industrial sectors, mainly steelmaking. At the end of the 1970s, the French government nationalized all of the Group’s steel production activities.
Wendel, a pioneer in private equity, then turned its focus to long-term investing.

XSML was founded in 2008, is an investment fund manager operating in frontier markets in Central and East Africa. XSML, eXtra Small Medium Large, aims to grow small businesses into medium and large enterprises. The managing partners have experience in emerging markets in asset management, corporate and development banking and restructuring.
Although international investors show an increasing interest in emerging markets, the demand for finance from small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) remains largely untapped. XSML bridges this gap.

The company was founded in 1980 and is based in Johannesburg, South Africa. As of June 30, 2010, Zest Electric Motors (Pty) Ltd. operates as a subsidiary of WEG S.A. Zest Electric Motors (Pty) Ltd. distributes, markets, and provides support for transformers, switchgear, variable speed drives, and motors.
It offers various electric motors, such as cast iron, pad mounted, aluminum frame, smoke extraction, flameproof, brake, single phase, and two-speed; and soft starters.
The company also provides after sales service and parts. It offers its products to mining, utilities, steel, water, paper, and petrochemical industries through a network of branches and distributors.
